Visitor visas — what you need to know
Temporary business pleasure visit visas allow travel to the U.S. for business meetings, conferences, tourism, visiting family, or medical treatment. Employment is not allowed. During the interview, the consular officer may require the applicant to post a visa bond in the amount of $5,000 to $15,000. The bond will be refunded provided that the applicant does not violate the terms of their visa and departs the United States before the end of their authorized stay (i.e., does not overstay).
