Visa validity period

<p class="ds-markdown-paragraph">Upon a positive decision on a visa application, the foreign national no longer receives a physical vignette (sticker) in their passport. Instead, they are granted an electronic visa (eVisa).</p> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"> </p> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph">Information regarding the validity period of the visa is now stored digitally within the UKVI account. The validity period itself, established at the time of approval, is the timeframe during which the applicant must travel to the country. The visa holder has the right to enter the United Kingdom at any time before this period expires. Typically, the period for entry is 90 days.</p> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"> </p> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph">Before travelling, the foreign national is required to create or activate a UKVI account (if one was not already created during the application process) and must link their valid passport to it. Extension of stay

Proof of knowledge of English
To prove at least B2 level English proficiency, the applicant can pass an English language test (SELT) from an approved provider like Pearson. Alternatively, they can present GCSE, A Level, or Scottish qualifications in English obtained before age 18, or a degree taught in English, verified by Ecctis for equivalency.
Proof of financial means
Financial documents showing that the applicant has sufficient funds available, showing the access to the funds, such as: bank statements which detail the origin of the funds held; building society books which detail the origin of the funds held; proof of earnings, such as a letter from the employer confirming employment details (start date of employment, salary, role, company contact details).
Proof of accommodation
Hotel reservation, rental agreement, invitation from relatives, friends or organizations or other accommodation options.
Additional
Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.
Current immigration or residence status
National passport or ID card; residence permit or other document confirming the right to legally reside in the country of residence, if it differs from the one stated in the applicant's passport.
Proof of family ties
Marriage certificate or other document confirming relationship, guardianship or family ties. If applicable.
Certificate of criminal record
The applicant must provide confirmation of no criminal record from their home or country of residence. If the applicant is under 28, they will need a certificate from any country in which they have resided for a total of 12 months or more since turning 18. If the applicant is 28 or over, they will need a certificate from any country in which they have resided over the last 10 years.
Letter of proof of employment
From the applicant's employer on company headed paper, detailing the role, salary and length of employment.
*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.
