Visa overview
Issued to visitors planning to reside in Tunisia for more than 3 consecutive months or for a total of 6 non-consecutive months within a single year. This visa is intended for foreign students wishing to pursue their studies at Tunisian higher educational institutions. Upon arrival in Tunisia, foreign nationals are required to obtain a temporary residence permit from the local police department in their place of residence. This permit grants legal residence status, and applicants are issued a Residence Card as official proof.

The visa allows for a maximum stay of 365 days; however, the exact duration of stay permitted in Tunisia is determined by the immigration officer. Upon arrival in Tunisia, foreign nationals are required to obtain a temporary residence permit from the local police department in their place of residence. These permits are granted for a duration of one year.

Processing time

Documents

Mandatory

Proof of financial means
Recent bank statement for the last three months or any other proof of income. This document must demonstrate sufficient funds to support oneself for the entire stay and for return expenses. In cases of sponsorship by a host, an invitation letter with financial commitments and proof of the sponsor's income must also be provided.
Passport
With a validity period exceeding the duration of the visa by at least 6 months and with at least one blank page. Applicants are required to submit a clear copy of the passport's personal information page.
Photograph
Must be recent (taken within the last 6 months), in color, clear, and sized 35x45mm. The face should occupy 70-80% of the image, printed on high-quality, matte paper with a plain, light background. Hair must not cover the eyes or eyebrows. Headwear is not permitted unless worn for religious or medical reasons, and the full face must remain visible.

Confirmation of the visa application processing fee.
Criminal record certificate
Confirming no criminal record in the applicant’s home or residence country. The original document must be accompanied by a translation into Arabic or French.
Travel health insurance
Valid for the full duration of stay in Tunisia. The insurance should include emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation, including in the event of death.
Medical certificate
A health certificate confirming that the applicant does not have any easily transmissible diseases, such as tuberculosis or other serious illnesses that could pose a risk to public health.
Proof of accommodation
Rental agreement or, if residing in a university dormitory, a certificate of residence.
Supporting
Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.
Certificate of enrollment
Final registration certificate, along with proof of full payment of tuition fees.

Current immigration or residence status
National passport or ID card; residence permit or other document confirming the right to legally reside in the country of residence, if it differs from the one stated in the applicant's passport.
