Visa exemption scheme, visa-free
Visa overview
Description of the visa, its purpose, conditions, peculiarities of issuance, and guidelines for utilization.
Allows nationals from eligible countries to enter Thailand without a visa, staying up to 60 days for purposes such as tourism, visiting family or friends, short-term business or study visits. Travelers are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card form no more than 3 days prior to their arrival in Thailand.
The primary characteristics that define the conditions for obtaining and using a visa. These conditions may vary depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant and the decision of the immigration authorities of the country.
Unlimited
Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
Different rules apply when entering Thailand under the visa exemption scheme, depending on the mode of border crossing. For land or sea entry, visa-exempt entry is allowed only twice per calendar year, except for citizens of Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Singapore, who are not subject to these restrictions. For air entry, there are no limits, but frequent travel may raise concerns with immigration officers that the purpose of visits is not short-term tourism or business. Foreign travelers are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card form no more than 3 days prior to their arrival in Thailand.
2 months
Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
Upon entry, an immigration officer stamps the passport with the entry date and the date by which the visitor must leave the country. Typically, the maximum stay of 60 days (or another period depending on the visitor's nationality) is granted; however, in exceptional cases, a shorter period may be set at the immigration officer's discretion. The total stay, including any possible extensions, cannot exceed 90 days per visit.
1 month
Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
It may be extended once for a period of up to 30 days, subject to a fee of 1,900 THB, by submitting an application at the Immigration Office and providing a valid justification for the extension. The decision is made by an immigration officer. It is important to obtain the extension within the permitted stay period, so it is recommended to apply at least a few days before the initially allowed stay expires. After the extension, the immigration officer stamps the applicant's passport with a new date indicating the allowed stay in the country.
multiple-entry
The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.
Visa-free entry is free of fees.
Not applicable
Processing time

No preliminary actions or procedures are required for visa-free entry, which can be used at any time provided all applicable rules and laws are observed. However, foreign travelers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card form online no more than 3 days prior to their arrival in Thailand.
