For overseas Chinese students admitted to a Taiwanese university, college, or vocational school through the official overseas Chinese student admission channel managed by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and the university entrance committee for overseas Chinese students. Applicants must hold the relevant certificate of admission issued through this dedicated channel. This visa is distinct from the general foreign student visa and follows separate admission procedures.

Visa validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
<p class="p1">Up to 3 months from the date of issuance (entry document); upon arrival, the applicant must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), which is valid for 1 academic year (renewable).</p>

Duration of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.

Individually
Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
<p class="p1">ARC is renewed each academic year as long as the student maintains full-time enrolment.</p>
single-entry
The possibility of entering the country only once during the visa's validity period. After departure from the country with such a visa, re-entry is not possible, even if the visa's validity period has not yet expired.
multiple-entry
The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.

Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Consular fee
A fee levied for the processing and evaluation of an application. This charge is non-refundable under any circumstances. In certain instances, the payment of supplementary fees may be required.
<p>The cost of the visa depends on the number of entries. Rush handling surcharge: +50% of base fee. The US passport holders pay a reciprocal handling fee of USD 160 per application.</p>

Completed online, printed and signed by the applicant. The printed form must display a barcode.

Certificate of highest education level
Degree certificate(s) or diploma(s) confirming the applicant's highest level of education. Must be authenticated by an ROC overseas mission.
Acceptance letter from university entrance committee for overseas Chinese students
Official acceptance / placement letter issued by the Overseas Chinese student university entrance committee, confirming admission to the Taiwanese institution.
Overseas Chinese student identity certificate
Certificate of overseas Chinese student status issued by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) or the relevant ROC overseas mission.
Proof of overseas Chinese status
Documentation confirming the applicant's status as an overseas Chinese national (e.g. proof of residency outside Taiwan and mainland China, relevant identity documents).
Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.
Travel medical insurance
To cover any unforeseen medical treatment might need in Taiwan.
Documents for minor children
Birth certificate, adoption certificate, or guardianship certificate evidencing parental or guardianship rights. Certified power of attorney or written permission from parents or legal guardians for minors travelling abroad.
*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.
**Prior to submitting the documents, it is strongly advised to verify the specific procedures and requirements with the relevant mission.
