Intra-company transfer visa — what you need to know
Designed for individuals to carry out work activities in Spain as senior management personnel, specialists, or trainees under a contract or professional relationship, when the transfer is made within the same company or group of companies.
The employee must have worked continuously or maintained a professional relationship with the group for at least 3 months before the transfer
A higher education degree or comparable qualification, or at least 3 years of professional experience, is required
The permit is issued for up to 3 years for managers and specialists, and up to 1 year for trainees
There is no single salary threshold
The process is initiated by the host Spanish company (authorization application submitted via the UGE-CE electronic platform).
Process: the host company submits the application (UGE-CE) → authorization approval → application for a D visa at the consulate → entry into Spain → registration with Seguridad Social → TIE issuance
No national labor market test applies
The permit is valid throughout Spain
Family members (spouse, children, dependent parents) may apply simultaneously with the main applicant and receive the right to work
After 12 months of work in Spain under an ICT permit, mobility to other EU countries within the same group is possible
