Visa overview

The EU Blue Card is a temporary residence and work permit designed for highly qualified workers from third countries, enabling them to reside and work in the Republic of Slovenia. The permit is issued for the duration of the employment contract plus three months, with a maximum validity of two years. Applicants must have a guaranteed gross monthly salary of at least €2,678.28, which is the average gross monthly wage in Slovenia. The Blue Card application must be submitted at a Slovenian diplomatic mission or consular post abroad. However, those already legally residing in Slovenia may also file their application at any local administrative unit.

Alternatively, if the applicant is already legally residing in Slovenia (on the basis of a valid identity card, passport, C or D visa, or a residence permit from another EU country), they may apply directly to the competent authority in Slovenia before their authorised stay expires.
