Exchange program visa D in Serbia for Moldovan citizens

Visa overview

Granted to foreign nationals participating in international exchange programs for pupils or students. Foreign nationals who intend to stay in the Republic of Serbia for a longer period than the number of days specified on their D visa must apply for a temporary residence permit on the basis of participation in international student or pupil exchange programs. The residence is granted for a period of up to 3 years.

Documents

Mandatory

The essential minimum documents required for a visa application, such as a passport or visa application form. These are necessary regardless of the location, method, or conditions of the application.

  • Travel health insurance

    Valid for the full duration of stay in Serbia, covering at least €20,000, and include emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation, including in case of death.

  • Receipt of fee payment

    Confirmation of the visa application processing fee.

  • Passport

    Issued less than 10 years ago, with a validity period exceeding the duration of the visa by at least three months and with at least two blank pages.

  • Photograph

    Must be recent (taken within the last 6 months), in color, clear, and sized 35x45mm. The face should occupy 70-80% of the image, printed on high-quality, matte paper with a plain, light background. Hair must not cover the eyes or eyebrows. Headwear is not permitted unless worn for religious or medical reasons, and the full face must remain visible.

  • Visa application form

    Official visa application form, completely filled and signed by the applicant. It may be submitted either online or as a printed copy when applying in person at a diplomatic-consular mission.

Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.

  • Invitation letter

    If applicable. The invitation letter from the host in Serbia must be certified by the competent authority and include the inviter’s declaration accepting full financial responsibility for the applicant’s stay, forced removal, and any shelter placement, should the applicant be unable to pay. It must also clearly state the applicant’s details (full name, date of birth, citizenship, travel document information), the inviter’s details (full name, date of birth, citizenship, phone number, residential address), the reason for the invitation, and any other information relevant to the stay.

  • Registration certificate

    A certificate confirming the registration of the educational institution with the competent authorities in the Republic of Serbia.

  • Proof of enrolment

    A certificate of enrollment in an accredited higher education institution under an international student exchange program, accompanied by documentation confirming that the exchange program has been approved by the ministry.

Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.

  • Landlord's statement

    The applicant must submit a written consent (landlord statement) from the property owner (the owner of the apartment, house, or other residential space, or a member of their household registered at the same address where the foreigner will reside). The document must contain the landlord's details (name, surname, ID card number), proof of ownership or other legal grounds to dispose of the property, and their explicit consent to address registration, specifying the full address (city, street, number, apartment, etc.). It must also include the foreigner's details: citizenship, full name, and passport or ID card number. The document must show the date of the statement and the landlord's handwritten signature. Notarization is not required.

  • Proof of accommodation

    If the foreigner has a concluded apartment lease contract specifying that the residential address will be registered at the address of the leased real estate, a scanned copy of the lease contract should be submitted. If the foreigner intends to stay in a hotel, hostel, or other accommodation facility, a lease contract or other document issued by the accommodation facility confirming the foreigner's stay and specifying the housing unit number must be provided.

  • Proof of financial mean

    Documents must demonstrate sufficient funds to support oneself for the entire stay and for return expenses. Acceptable proof includes any of the following: confirmation of the amount of salary; employment contract or other contract in accordance with labour regulations; proof of payments from pension insurance; proof of scholarship; confirmation or statement of the possession of funds in the bank account in the amount of the minimum salary prescribed in the Republic of Serbia for the year in which the request is submitted; a written guarantee of a legal entity registered in the Republic of Serbia or a certified guarantee of a natural person that they will bear the costs of supporting the foreign citizen during his stay, with proof that the guarantor has necessary funds.

*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.

**Prior to submitting the documents, it is strongly advised to verify the specific procedures and requirements with the relevant mission.

Requirements

The minimum criteria that each visa applicant must meet. If these criteria are not met, justifications and convincing evidence of intent to visit the country must be provided.

  • Clear purposes of the visit and documents confirming them, in accordance with the visa conditions.

  • Sufficient means to support oneself and their dependents for the duration of their stay in the country.

  • The applicant does not pose a threat to public order, internal security, public health or international relations of the country.

  • Insurance policy for the entire period of stay, meeting the minimum mandatory or recommended requirements for the country.

  • Valid permanent resident status or proof thereof; all preliminary procedures for visa application have been completed.
