Visa overview

Description of the visa, its purpose, conditions, peculiarities of issuance, and guidelines for utilization.

Entitles to visit Russia for up to 16 days. The application is filled in electronic form from the personnel office on the specialized portal of MFA or through mobile application, placed for download on the site of Foreign Affairs. E-visa applicants are not required to submit an invitation letter, hotel booking confirmation or any other document confirming the purpose.

Time frames and cost

The primary characteristics that define the conditions for obtaining and using a visa. These conditions may vary depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant and the decision of the immigration authorities of the country.

    Validity period

    The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.

    The validity period of a single electronic visa is 60 days from the date of issue. All foreign citizens entering Russia are required to fill out migration cards. You can get a migration card form free of charge at designated border crossing points, at international airports of the Russian Federation, and on board aircraft flying to Russia. The migration card contains the foreigner's personal data, purpose of entry, and registration stamp. In accordance with current legislation, foreigners arriving in Russia are required to register with the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia within 7 working days. When staying at a hotel or other organization providing hotel services, it's necessary to register within 1 working day. A single electronic visa is valid for entry into and exit from the Russian Federation only through certain checkpoints across the State Border of the Russian Federation, the list of which is approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

    Length of stay

    The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.

    The permitted period of stay in the Russian Federation with a single electronic visa within its validity period is no more than 16 days from the date of entry. The permitted period of stay in the Russian Federation with a single electronic visa of up to 16 days does not mean the possibility of staying for 384 hours (24 hours x 16) of net time. The day of arrival and the day of departure are considered 2 days.     Extension of stay

    The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.

    The validity period of an electronic visa and (or) the permitted period of stay under it may be extended only if it is impossible to leave the territory of the Russian Federation due to the need for emergency treatment or the occurrence of force majeure circumstances, as well as natural disasters. The validity period of an electronic visa and (or) the permitted period of stay under it is extended by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation or its territorial bodies at the place of registration of the foreign citizen for migration purposes at the place of stay, and in the absence of registration for migration purposes at the place of stay - at the place of actual stay by issuing a regular (non-electronic) visa.

    Number of entries

    The uniform electronic visa is a single-entry visa.

    Processing time

    The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.

    The term for processing a single electronic visa is no more than 4 calendar days from the date of application. The date and time of application submission are considered to be the date and time of sending the completed application for processing.

    Consular fee

    A fee levied for the processing and evaluation of an application. This charge is non-refundable under any circumstances. In certain instances, the payment of supplementary fees may be required.

    The fee may be waived, or the amount may vary depending on the applicant’s nationality, age, specific purpose of the visit and number of entries. Children under 6 years of age are exempt from the consular fee. The consular fee is the official fee for processing a visa application by the embassy, ​​consulate or accredited visa center of the Russian Federation and does not include any additional payments that may be required depending on the place and method of submission, such as visa center fees, the cost of processing permits and other documents, postal and courier delivery of documents, etc.

Documents

Mandatory

  • Photograph

    Taken in the last six months, passport-size, colored, clean, and meeting other standards according to ICAO photo guidelines.

  • Visa application form

    Official Russian e-visa application form, completely filled and signed by the applicant, completed online through the site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation.

  • Passport

    Current passport which should be valid for a minimum of 6 months after visa's expiration date and has at least 2 blank pages which do not need to be consecutive.

Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.

    Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.

      *Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.

      **Prior to submitting the documents, it is strongly advised to verify the specific procedures and requirements with the relevant mission.

      Requirements
