Grants permanent residency to retirees or pensioners who can demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves without working in Mexico.

Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
It has a maximum validity of 180 days, the visa is valid beginning on the date of issuance. Issuance of the visa is subject to the result of the interview at the consulate.

Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
This visa authorizes the foreigner to remain in Mexican territory indefinitely. Once a foreigner has entered Mexican territory, within the first 30 calendar days, the alien must go to the National Migration Institute to process the residence card that proves the legal status in the country and allows remaining in Mexico.

Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
Extension is not provided. Once in Mexico, the foreigners have to apply for a temporary resident card to remain in the country for up to four years.

The possibility of entering the country only once during the visa's validity period. After departure from the country with such a visa, re-entry is not possible, even if the visa's validity period has not yet expired.

With a white background that was taken within the last 6 months, with visible face and without glasses, in color, passport size - at least 32.0 mm x 26.0 mm and at most 39.0 mm x 31.0 mm, color, head and forehead uncovered, without glasses, no accessories.

Proof of investments or bank accounts
Showing an average monthly balance equivalent to 20 000 days of the general minimum wage, during the last 12 months, or documents that demonstrate that the applicant have a pension with a monthly income free of taxes greater than the equivalent of 500 days of the general minimum wage in force in the Federal District, during the last 6 months.

Birth certificate or other documents, such as adoption papers or a custody decree; original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from parents / legal guardian.
Current immigration or residence status
National passport or ID card; residence permit or other supporting document confirming the resident status if applicant's country of residence is different from that listed in a passport.
Receipt of fee payment
Confirming full payment of visa fees and required charges.
Certificate of criminal record
Confirming no criminal record in the applicant’s home or residence country.
Medical certificates
Health certificates, vaccination certificates, etc., depending on the purpose of the visit, citizenship and country of submission of documents by the applicant.

Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.
