New investor visa Malaysia

Visa overview

Description of the visa, its purpose, conditions, peculiarities of issuance, and guidelines for utilization.

Issued to potential investors who have not had any investment record in Malaysia.

Time frames and cost

The primary characteristics that define the conditions for obtaining and using a visa. These conditions may vary depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant and the decision of the immigration authorities of the country.

  • to 3 months

    Validity period

The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.

The decision on the issuance and validity of the visa is made by the Malaysian consulate or embassy and is not directly dependent on the applicant. The validity period of this visa is the period of time within which it is necessary to enter the country. As a rule, this visa is issued for a period of up to 3 months, which is calculated from the date of issuance of the visa. Within three days before entering Malaysia, all foreign nationals, except permanent residents and certain other categories of persons, are required to complete a Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). Once the MDAC is filled out, a confirmation email is sent to the applicant, which they need to show to the officer at passport control.

  • to 6 months

    Length of stay

The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.

Upon entry, applicant may proceed to ESC KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 for the ePASS endorsement. No appointment needed. Applicant obtains the ePASS which indicates the date of entry as well as the maximum authorized period of stay in the country. If the foreigner is unable to be present at ESC KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 as per the flight date submitted, applicant must contact Immigration at ppp_invest@imi.gov.my to request for the application to be returned. After receiving the returned application, the company can resubmit the endorsement request by changing the details of entry to Others point of entry. Investor Pass holders are permitted to enter Malaysia for a period of 6 months.

  • 6 months

    Extension of stay

The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.

It is possible to extend the stay for an additional 6 months, subject to the applicant providing sufficient justification and meeting the necessary requirements. Applicants may submit a renewal application through the Xpats Gateway 1 month before the pass expiry.

  • multiple-entry

The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.

    Number of entries

A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.

This visa entitles its holder to enter the country multiple times.

  • from 7 days to 1 month 10 days
