Allows researchers and scientists involved in temporary research projects or collaboration with Malaysian institutions to stay in Malaysia for a maximum of 12 months. All travelers need to complete and submit MDAC within 3 days before arrival.

Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
The decision on the issuance and validity of the visa is made by the Malaysian consulate or embassy and is not directly dependent on the applicant. The validity period of this visa is the period of time within which it is necessary to enter the country. As a rule, this visa is issued for a period of up to 3 months, which is calculated from the date of issuance of the visa. Within three days before entering Malaysia, all foreign nationals, except permanent residents and certain other categories of persons, are required to complete a Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). Once the MDAC is filled out, a confirmation email is sent to the applicant, which they need to show to the officer at passport control.

The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
Upon entry, the immigration officer places an immigration stamp in the passport of foreign nationals. This stamp is called a Visit Pass and indicates the date of entry as well as the maximum authorized period of stay in the country. After arrival on this visa, it is necessary to contact the Immigration Department within 30 days to complete the process of issuing a long-term stay permit (Professional Visit Pass) corresponding to the purpose of the visit. The maximum validity of the Professional Visit Pass (PVP) in Malaysia is 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
In most cases, there is no provision for visa extensions. However, it is possible to apply for an extension of the Professional Visit Pass at the Immigration Department a few months before the current PVP expires. Generally, the PVP can be extended for up to 12 months, provided that at least 3 months have elapsed since the start of the previous validity period. Thus, the total maximum stay under the PVP can be up to 24 months if the extension is approved. However, to obtain an extension, it is necessary to fulfill all the required conditions and apply through a sponsor in Malaysia.

The possibility of entering the country only once during the visa's validity period. After departure from the country with such a visa, re-entry is not possible, even if the visa's validity period has not yet expired.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.
This visa is a single entry visa. If the holder leaves the country before completing the long-term permit, they will need to obtain a new visa for re-entry.
