Visa for guest self-employment — what you need to know
Designed for foreign nationals seeking residence in Hungary for gainful activity, either through self-employment or as owners or managing directors of profit-oriented business entities. A guest self-employment residence permit is granted only to third-country nationals who are members of the business organization and serve as its executives.
For self‑employed individuals, the income threshold is 24 times the minimum wage in Hungary (7,747,200 HUF in 2026)
Procedure: approval of residence permit for guest self‑employment → obtain D‑visa → enter Hungary → obtain the card.
Residence permit: 1 year (renewable) – total stay limited to 3 years from the date of first issue
