Allows travellers to stay in the Egypt airport transit area on their way to another country. Until the end of April, 2027, Egypt grants a free 96-hour transit visa to passengers who: 1) are eligible for a visa upon arrival; 2) have a layover of 8-96 hours; 3) arrive in and depart from Egypt using EgyptAir, Air Cairo, or Nile Air only. In all other cases, a transit visa must be arranged before arrival and issued for only 48-hour transit at the airport. Travellers with a layover in Egypt of more than 48 hours are required to obtain a regular tourist visa or an eVisa. Holders of travel documents from specific countries must obtain clearance from the competent authorities in Egypt, which takes 2-3 months to process.

Consular fee

The consular fee is the official charge for processing an application by an embassy or consulate and does not include additional payments, such as fees for visa centers, permits or other documents, or postal or courier delivery.
