Visa overview
Description of the visa, its purpose, conditions, peculiarities of issuance, and guidelines for utilization.
Entry is granted with a special visa issued for a period of 6 months, allowing a maximum stay of 60 days. During this time, the applicant must collect their residence permit, which enables foreign nationals holding permanent residency and long-term EU resident status in another EU member state to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 3 months up to 2 years.
The primary characteristics that define the conditions for obtaining and using a visa. These conditions may vary depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant and the decision of the immigration authorities of the country.
from 2 months to 6 months
Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
A long-term visa for the purpose of collecting a long-term residence permit is issued for a duration of 6 months, allowing a maximum stay of 60 days. During this period, the visa holder must enter the Czech Republic and obtain their long-term and permanent residence permit.
2 months
Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
During this period, the visa holder must enter the Czech Republic and obtain their residence permit. The duration of stay for a specific long-term residence permit is determined by the consulate, based on the applicant's individual circumstances and the supporting documentation provided. A residence permit is initially granted for 1 year and can be extended for a maximum stay of 2 years.
Not applicable
Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
A long-term visa for the purpose of collecting a long-term residence permit cannot be extended. The validity of a long-term residence permit for a resident of another EU member state may be extended if the applicant wishes to stay in the Czech Republic. The permit can be extended repeatedly, with each extension granted for a maximum period of 2 years. The applicant can apply for a long-term residence for another purpose.
multiple-entry
The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.
A long term residence permit grants the possibility to leave and re-enter the Czech Republic repeatedly for the whole duration of the residence validity. A long-term residence permit grants its holder a right of free movement in the Schengen Area.
4 months
Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.
The legal processing time is 120 days. The time limit is not running if the proceedings are suspended or if there is a legal ground for it.
