Service provider visa — what you need to know
Intended for the execution of a specific project, the provision of services, or the performance of work under a civil/commercial contract (contrato de prestación de servicios, obra o labor). This visa grants the right to work in Colombia, but strictly for the specific employer and for the position stated in the visa. Working for other companies is prohibited. The employer must be prepared to justify why a foreign national is required for this position. The application process is entirely online through the website of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería). However, the employer company must be registered in the SIRE and RUTEC government systems for reporting the hiring of foreign nationals.
