Work visa — what you need to know
The application procedure for a Temporary Work Visa is initiated from Brazil by the Brazilian sponsoring company with the submission of the application and supporting documents to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (“Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública” – MJ). Once authorization has been granted and subsequently received by the Embassy, the applicant may submit the appropriate documentation for issuance of the visa.
Qualifications and experience must correspond to the position
No minimum salary threshold is set; remuneration must comply with applicable legislation
The initial permit is issued for up to 2 years
Application process: employer obtains the authorisation → VITEM V visa is issued → entry into Brazil → residence permit (CRNM) is obtained
A single permit authorises both residence and employment
Relocation with family, and family members are allowed to work
A residence permit can be requested while staying in Brazil
The permit can be extended or changed to a permanent residence permit if the employment basis is maintained
