Time frames and cost

The primary characteristics that define the conditions for obtaining and using a visa. These conditions may vary depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant and the decision of the immigration authorities of the country.

Documents

A list of documents required for visa application. The exact list depends on the chosen visa type, the purpose of the visit, and the individual conditions of the applicant.

Mandatory

The essential minimum documents required for a visa application, such as a passport or visa application form. These are necessary regardless of the location, method, or conditions of the application.

• Passport

  A valid passport with a validity period exceeding 6 months and with at least two blank pages.

• Photograph

  Must be recent (taken within the last 6 months), in color, clear, and sized 35x45mm. The face should occupy 70-80% of the image, printed on high-quality, matte paper with a plain, light background. Hair must not cover the eyes or eyebrows. Headwear is not permitted unless worn for religious or medical reasons, and the full face must remain visible.

• Visa application form

  Fully filled online, printed and signed visa application form.

• Full Birth certificate

  The name of the parents must be indicated. Birth certificates from outside the Consulate's jurisdiction (includes those issued in other countries) must be apostilled.

• Police сlearance

  Valid, apostilled original police record from a home country. Applicants who have lived in other/multiple countries within the last 12 months must provide a police record from each of those countries. They must also be duly apostilled or legalized by the respective Brazilian consular authority with jurisdiction over these countries, and translated by a sworn translator, if necessary.

Supporting

Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.

• Flight itinerary

  Fully paid round-trip tickets or booking confirmation. Must be issued by airline or travel company and must contain the applicant's name, flight numbers and dates.

• Proof of financial means

  At least one of the following documents must be submitted: - Bank statements containing the account holder's name, current balance and transactions from the last 3 months (leading to the week that precedes the interview at the Embassy); and/or - International credit card statements containing the card holder's name, available credit limit and transactions from the last 3 months (leading to the week that precedes the interview at the Embassy); and/or - The last 3 payslips. *As a reference, the applicant must have approximately US$150 per day available to cover expenses.

• Proof of financial means to cover all treatment expenses

  A detailed cost estimate (medical quote) must be presented, in addition to at least one of the following documents: Health insurance, valid in Brazil, which provides coverage for the specified treatment; OR Certificate of health services provision laid down by international agreement or any other means of reimbursement, should the treatment be provided by the Brazilian Unified Health System - SUS (e.g. social security agreements); OR Sufficient private means to cover all treatment expenses.

• Medical referral letter or medical report

  Apostilled and sworn translated letter, printed on official letterhead of the health professional or healthcare unit and contain at least the following information: a) The applicant's full personal details and the healthcare unit or medical professional's details; b) Description of the patient's condition and proposed treatment plan; c) Estimated duration of treatment.

• Hospital statement

  Report from the responsible doctor, hospital or clinic in which the treatment will be carried out, ensuring that the treatment will not burden the Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS), except in cases of reimbursement.

Additional

Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.

• Current immigration or residence status

  National passport or ID card; residence permit or other document confirming the right to legally reside in the country of residence, if it differs from the one stated in the applicant's passport.

• Application for minors

  If the applicant is under 18 years old, the following documents are required: a) Parental Consent Form signed by both parents or legal guardians and notarised by a local notary; b) Document proving the relationship with the minor, such as birth certificate, parents’ ID documents, death certificate, or sole custody document, where applicable.

*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.
