Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
The validity period of this type of visa for Turkey refers to the timeframe within which the holder must enter the country. This period starts from the visa issuance date, as indicated on the visa itself. The visa may be valid from 1 to 12 months, depending on the specific purpose of stay.
to 3 months
Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
Consulate authorities make a decision on the stay period based on the documentary evidence provided by the applicant, and it does not directly depend on the applicant. The length of stay provided by visa or visa exemption cannot exceed 90 days within each 180 days. Each applicant may be limited in the period of stay only for the duration of the planned activity in Turkey. For example, with a maximum period of 90 days, a person may be issued a visa with a stay of 5 or 10 days.
from 6 months to 1 year
Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
Visa extensions are generally not available; however, in most cases, it is possible to apply for a temporary residence permit, İkamet İzni. Residence permits are issued through the Directorate General of Migration Management (Göç İdaresi Başkanlığı) — each province has its own Provincial Directorate of Migration Management (İl Göç İdaresi Müdürlüğü) — after submitting an online application on the official website. Applications must be submitted before the expiration of the visa or visa-free stay. The initial residence permit is usually granted for a period of 6 months to 1 year. *In some provinces (such as Antalya, Istanbul, and Ankara), restrictions were introduced in 2024–2025 on new short-term residence permits based on rental agreements — only property owners or those with other valid grounds are eligible to apply.

Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.
The applicant specifies the required number of entries on the visa application; however, consulates make a decision, which may vary depending on provided documentary evidence and other factors. A visa may be issued for single or multiple entries.
from 7 days to 1 month
Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.
The processing time for such a visa application is usually about 1 to 2 weeks and depends on the place for the submission. In rarer cases, the consulate may take 1 month to make a decision on the application.
