Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
The standard validity period is 30 to 90 days. In some cases, a multiple-entry visa may be issued, allowing several entries and exits during the visa’s validity period (up to 1 year) if the project is long-term or requires repeated trips.

Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
If the research lasts less than 90 days, the period of stay will be limited to the validity of the visa. If the project or research extends beyond the visa’s validity, or long-term work in Turkey is planned, a residence permit must usually be obtained within 30 days of arrival. The initial residence permit is typically issued for 6–12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on the duration of the archaeological work.

Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
If the project continues, the residence permit can be renewed annually.
single-entry
The possibility of entering the country only once during the visa's validity period. After departure from the country with such a visa, re-entry is not possible, even if the visa's validity period has not yet expired.
multiple-entry
The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.
The applicant specifies the required number of entries on the visa application; however, consulates make a decision, which may vary depending on provided documentary evidence and other factors. A visa may be issued for single or multiple entries.

Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.
The processing time for such a visa application is usually about 1 to 2 weeks and depends on the place for the submission. In rarer cases, the consulate may take 1 month to make a decision on the application.

Consular fee
A fee levied for the processing and evaluation of an application. This charge is non-refundable under any circumstances. In certain instances, the payment of supplementary fees may be required.
The cost of this visa for Turkey is not fixed and depends on the applicant’s nationality, the duration of the project, and the number of entries. Consular fee is the official charge for processing a visa application by an embassy or consulate of the country and does not include any additional payments that may be required depending on the place and method of submission, such as visa center fees, the cost of permits or other documents, postal or courier delivery, and others.

Passport
Must be valid for at least 60 days beyond the period of stay or at least 6 months as from the date of arrival in Turkey (unless exempt by country-specific agreements).
Medical insurance policy
A medical insurance policy valid for the entire duration of stay is required to enter Turkey. It must cover emergency medical care, hospitalization, evacuation, and repatriation, with a minimum coverage of approximately €30,000–€50,000.
Visa application form
Duly filled and signed by the applicant. This usually requires using the pre-application system of Turkish sticker visa.
Photograph
A color photograph measuring 50 × 60 mm with a plain light background. The face should be straight, mouth closed, eyes fully visible, with a head height of approximately 34 mm. The photo must be no older than 6 months and free of defects. Head coverings are allowed only for medical or religious reasons. For online applications, the photo must be in JPEG format, up to 300 KB in size, with a resolution of at least 600 × 800 pixels.

Invitation letter
From an organization in Turkey, indicating the applicant's status and details of the archaeological excavations or exploration.
Request letter
Addressed to the Turkish Embassy in the applicant's country, indicating the details of the work: length of the stay, purpose of the visit, position of the applicant, location (if necessary, attach a copy of the map) and dates of the proposed excavations.
Brief CV
Including fieldwork experience and bibliography of the applicant.
Guarantee of financial support
If applicable. A letter of guarantee of support from the applicant’s in or a statement of funds applied for (or to be applied for), including the granting organization(s) and amount(s) requested.
Excavation permit
Permission must be obtained from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.
Receipt of fee payment
Confirmation of the visa application processing fee.
Proof of financial means
Bank statements, payslips, tax returns, invitation letter with financial obligations, or any other proof of income. Recommended minimum amount is about €50 per person (adult) per intended travel day in Turkey.
Proof of accommodation
A copy of hotel reservation, rental contract, letter from friends/family in Turkey, ect.
Flight itinerary
Fully paid round-trip tickets or booking confirmation. Must be issued by airline or travel company and must contain the applicant's name, flight numbers and dates.
Letter of invitation
From the Turkish company, organization or person with details of the applicant and inviter. In case applicant has a sponsor, affidavit letter from sponsor for the covering of the expenses along with the proof of income (like business letter, bank statement, salary, duration of the employment etc).
Travel history
Includes previous visas and stamps in a passport.

In case, the applicant has a sponsor. From sponsor on a stamp paper for the covering of the expenses along with the proof of income (like business letter, bank statement, salary, duration of the employment etc.).
Certificate of criminal record
Confirming no criminal record in the applicant’s home or residence country.
Medical certificates
Health certificates, vaccination certificates, etc. depending on the purpose of the visit, citizenship and country of submission of documents by the applicant.
Current immigration or residence status
National passport or ID card; residence permit or other supporting document confirming applicant's resident status if the country of residence is different from that listed in a passport.
*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.
