Visa overview
Description of the visa, its purpose, conditions, peculiarities of issuance, and guidelines for utilization.
For foreign nationals married to a person who is legally residing in Taiwan but does not hold household registration — including non-household-registered ROC citizens, other foreign nationals with ARC, or permanent residents from Hong Kong, Macau, or mainland China. The sponsoring spouse must hold a valid ARC or equivalent legal residence status in Taiwan.
Visa validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.

Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
<p class="p1">Stay is extended by renewing the ARC annually at the NIA, as long as the underlying purpose remains valid. No separate visa extension is required once ARC is obtained.<br>ARC renewed annually as long as the sponsoring spouse maintains valid residence status in Taiwan.</p>
single-entry
The possibility of entering the country only once during the visa's validity period. After departure from the country with such a visa, re-entry is not possible, even if the visa's validity period has not yet expired.
multiple-entry
The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.

Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Consular fee

Mandatory

Passport
Must be valid at least six months from planned arrival date in Taiwan.
Arrival card
The migration card is issued on the airplane or filled out online.
Photo
Two colour passport-size photographs with white background, taken within the last six months. Size: 2 inches (5×5 cm).
Visa application form
Completed online, printed and signed by the applicant. The printed form must display a barcode.
Supporting
Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.
Proof of host's legal status in Taiwan
Copy of the relative's Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), Taiwan Area Resident Certificate (TARC), or household registration confirming legal residence in Taiwan.
Original marriage certificate
Official marriage certificate issued by the competent authority. If issued outside Taiwan, must be authenticated by an ROC overseas mission. If issued in mainland China, must be authenticated by the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF).
Proof of genuine marital relationship
Supporting evidence of a genuine and ongoing marriage, which may include: joint photographs, communication records, proof of cohabitation, joint bank accounts, or a statutory declaration. Required at the visa officer's discretion.

Travel medical insurance
To cover any unforeseen medical treatment might need in Taiwan.
Documents for minor children
Birth certificate, adoption certificate, or guardianship certificate evidencing parental or guardianship rights. Certified power of attorney or written permission from parents or legal guardians for minors travelling abroad.
*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.

Requirements
