Visa validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, a visa is a permit for both entry and exit. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the validity period indicated on the foreigner's visa: the applicant cannot enter the country before the start date of the visa, nor overstay its validity. Transit visas are generally valid for a maximum of 3 days when travelling by air and 10 days when travelling by rail. All foreign citizens entering Russia are required to fill out migration cards. It is possible to get a migration card form free of charge at designated border crossing points, at international airports of the Russian Federation, as well as on board airplanes flying to Russia. The migration card contains the foreigner's identification data, the purpose of entry, and a registration mark. In accordance with current legislation, foreigners who arrive in Russia are required to register with the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia within 7 working days. When staying at a hotel or other organization providing hotel services, it's necessary to register within 1 working day.
to 10 days
Duration of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, the validity period of a visa corresponds to the permitted period of stay in the country, which for this category of visa cannot exceed 3 days when traveling by air and 10 days when traveling by rail.
Not applicable
Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
The period of stay of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation may be extended by the Federal Migration Service and its territorial bodies in the following cases: - if it is impossible for a foreign citizen to leave the territory of the Russian Federation due to the need for emergency treatment, serious illness or death of a close relative residing in the Russian Federation - for the period necessary to take measures required by the circumstances and for the foreign citizen to leave the Russian Federation (upon presentation of a document confirming the existence of these circumstances); - if it is impossible for a foreign citizen to leave the territory of the Russian Federation due to the occurrence of force majeure circumstances (extraordinary and unavoidable circumstances under the given conditions), as well as natural phenomena.

A transit visa can be single or double entry.

Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.
The standard review period, in the absence of problems with the content of the application, is seven working days from the date of acceptance of the application. However, this period may be extended in individual cases, especially when additional documents are required from the applicant.

In addition, for most countries, an additional express service is provided if necessary. This service reduces the processing time of the application and increases the amount of the fee. The consular fee is the official fee for processing a visa application by the embassy, consulate or accredited visa center of the Russian Federation and does not include any additional payments that may be required depending on the place and method of submission, such as visa center fees, the cost of processing permits and other documents, postal and courier delivery of documents, etc.
