Visa overview
Description of the visa, its purpose, conditions, peculiarities of issuance, and guidelines for utilization.
Issued to a self-employed person planning to reside in the Netherlands for a long time and whose company, services and products are of essential interest to the Dutch economy.
The primary characteristics that define the conditions for obtaining and using a visa. These conditions may vary depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant and the decision of the immigration authorities of the country.

Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
The MVV visa sticker is valid for 90 days after it is granted. Before applying for an MVV (National) visa, one must receive a positive decision from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND). After receiving a positive IND decision, the applicant has three months to apply for the MVV sticker.

Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
After recieving MVV visa sticker, the applicant must travel to the Netherlands and collect residence permit from the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) within 90 days. Residence permit is valid for a maximum of 2 years.

Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.
In most cases, visa extension is not provided, however, it is possible to apply for an extension of the residence permit to the immigration authority (IND) minimum 3 months before the expiration and no later than 4 weeks after the expiry.

The ability to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times, unless otherwise specified, within the visa's validity period.
Number of entries
A parameter specifying the number of times the visa holder can enter the country during its validity period. Visas can be single-entry, multiple-entry, or with a specified number of entries.
The MVV is a multiple-entry visa.

Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Decisions on visa applications are made by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) within 90 calendar days from the date of submission. Decision period can be extended by a maximum of 6 months in case of additional check. After a positive IND decision, the applicant should reach the consulate to obtain an MVV sticker visa. It may take up to 10-15 business days to prepare a visa sticker.

Consular fee
A fee levied for the processing and evaluation of an application. This charge is non-refundable under any circumstances. In certain instances, the payment of supplementary fees may be required.
Fees may be waived or varied depending on the applicant's nationality, marital status, age and specific purpose of visit. Based on the Benelux Treaty, citizens of San Marino and Israel do not pay for the application for a provisional residence permit (MVV). Visa fees are lower for Turkish nationals under the EEC-Turkey Association Agreement. Based on the Benelux Treaty, citizens of San Marino and Israel do not have to pay for a provisional residence permit application (MVV), so they don't have to go through the TEV process (joint application for MVV and residence permits). The consular fee is the official charge for processing an MVV visa and a residence permit application at an embassy or consulate in the Netherlands and does not include additional charges that may be incurred depending on where and how the application is submitted, such as fees at visa centers, costs of permits or documents, postage or courier services, etc.

The essential minimum documents required for a visa application, such as a passport or visa application form. These are necessary regardless of the location, method, or conditions of the application.
Passport
Issued less than 10 years ago, with a validity period exceeding the duration of the visa by at least three months and with at least two blank pages.
Photograph
Taken in the last six months, passport-size, colored, clean, and meeting other standards according to ICAO photo guidelines.
MVV issue form
A completed and signed MVV issue form.
Letter from the IND
A photocopy of the letter from the IND stating that application has been approved.
Civic integration examination certificate
For a regular provisional residence permit aplicant must pass the civic integration examination abroad or get an exemption from this.
Declaration of intent to undergo TB test
In order to obtain a residence permit, aplicant must be prepared to undergo a tuberculosis (TB) test in the Netherlands and - if necessary -treatment. After arrival to the Netherlands, withing 3 months aplicant should make a TB test appointment with the Municipal Health Service (GGD) in the area where they live or will be living.
Antecedents certificate
An antecedents certificate is a statement in which the applicant indicates whether they have committed a criminal offense in the past, or are currently being prosecuted for committing a criminal offense. This includes crimes committed in the Netherlands or criminal offenses abroad. The antecedents certificate must be completed by any person 12 years of age or older.
Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.
European sanctions statement
A completed and signed ‘Statement due to European sanctions against Russia and Belarus’ appendix.
Сertain types of work permission
A copy of a document issued by Dutch authority showing that applicant has the necessary permits to practice a particular profession or run a particular enterprise.
Declaration of income
A completed and signed ‘Declaration of income of self-employed person appendix’ with the appendices demanded therein. Financial data proof such as turnover data, annual accounts, tax data, pay slips, wage tax declarations, income data showing the income of the 12 months prior to the application.
Education proof
Copies of educational certificates (diplomas, doctorate) from Dutch and foreign study programmes.
Employment proof
Сontract(s) from previous employment(s) and references. If applicant has enterprise in the country of origin: a copy of the deed of incorporation and the articles of association of the enterprise. For freelancer: copies of agreement(s) relating to the assignment(s) that applicant will be carrying out as freelancer.
Business plan
A business plan that includes information about the entrepreneur, product or service, market analysis, substantiated pricing, balance sheet, the turnover and liquidity forecast (including calculations for at least 3 years), specification and budget of labour creation and investments, turnover data from the Dutch market.
Economic value proof
Means of evidence that show the innovative character of the product or the service for the Netherlands (patents, references from professional institutes, etc.), labour creation in the enterprise and data related to proposed investments.
Source of financing confirmation
Only for self-employed artist. In case of direct funding from a national culture fund: a copy of the subsidy decision from the fund. In case of no direct funding from a national culture fund: a substantiated statement showing that the cultural institution has the required artistic quality, a commission agreement with the Dutch cultural institution, the fully completed and signed Appendix ‘Declaration on essential cultural importance’.
Documents required vary depending on individual circumstances, specific visa conditions, the place, and the method of application.
Documents for minor children
Birth certificate, adoption certificate, or guardianship certificate evidencing parental or guardianship rights; certified power of attorney or permission from parents or legal guardians for minors traveling abroad.
Receipt of fee payment
Confirmation of the visa application processing fee.
*Foreign official documents must be apostilled and legalized in accordance with the regulations of the country whose consular or diplomatic mission they are being submitted to. Additionally, they must be accompanied by a certified translation into the official language of that country or into English, unless otherwise specified by the mission's requirements.

Insurance policy for the entire period of stay, meeting the minimum mandatory or recommended requirements for the country.
