Validity period
The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
Once a work and residence permit is approved, the applicant if their nationality requires a visa to enter Denmark, should apply for a national entry visa (D visa) with a maximum validity of 180 days. The exact period of validity is determined by the consulate and is not directly dependent on the applicant. Citizens of visa-free countries can enter Denmark for long-term residence with a passport and a letter of approval of work and residence permit. Upon arrival in Denmark, the applicant must receive a residence permit card.
6 months
Length of stay
The maximum duration for which one is permitted to stay in the country continuously from the date of entry.
A national entry visa is issued as a visa sticker in the passport that allows entry into Denmark within 180 days for the purpose of taking up the approved residence permit. A residence permit is granted for the period of employment as a volunteer but no longer than 18 months.

The applicant specifies the required number of entries on the visa application; however, consulates make a decision, which may vary depending on provided documentary evidence and other factors. Entry visa may be issued for single or multiple entries.
3 months
Processing time
The period during which the immigration authorities review the application and make a decision regarding the issuance of the visa. Only business days are counted, excluding weekends and public holidays.

A fee levied for the processing and evaluation of an application. This charge is non-refundable under any circumstances. In certain instances, the payment of supplementary fees may be required.
Fee exemptions can be granted to individuals submitting an application for a residence permit or to extend a temporary residence permit that would normally warrant a fee if it is in keeping with Denmark’s international obligations and EU regulations. Exemptions are granted on a case-by-case basis. Turkish citizens covered by the Association Agreement between the EU and Türkiye are exempt from paying fees. EU/EEA citizens applying for a residence permit under EU law are exempt from paying a fee. Citizens of Nordic countries do not need to apply for a residence permit in order to reside in Denmark and thus do not need to pay the application fee. The consular fee is the official charge for processing a visa and a residence permit application at the embassy, consulate or immigration office in Denmark and does not include additional charges that may be incurred depending on where and how the application is submitted, such as fees at visa centers, costs of permits or documents, postage or courier services, etc.
