Extension of stay
The extension of the maximum duration of stay in the country initially permitted by the visa, subject to approval by the immigration authorities. This is typically processed within the country without the need for departure.

Passport
Validity period - at least 6 months at the time of application. At least 2 blank pages for visa stamps are also required.
Photograph
A digital photograph with strict technical parameters: the image size must be exactly 3 x 4 cm, the file format must be JPG, and the file size must not exceed 300 KB. The photograph must be taken against a uniform white background within the last 6 months. In the image, the face must be directed straight at the camera with a neutral expression (no smiling), and the eyes and ears must be fully visible and not covered by hair. The use of headwear and glasses is not permitted, with the exception of religious headwear that does not conceal the oval of the face.
Documents that specify, substantiate, and confirm the purpose of the visit, as well as provide necessary information about the applicant and their future activities in the country.
Marriage certificate (Registro Civil de Matrimonio)
An authentic copy of the Colombian marriage certificate, issued no earlier than 3 months prior to the application submission. Important: If the marriage was contracted outside of Colombia, it must be registered in Colombia (with the Civil Registry or consulate). Only after this will they obtain a Colombian marriage certificate, which must then be submitted. Documents issued outside of Colombia must be apostilled and translated into Spanish by a certified translator.
Request letter (Carta de solicitud)
A letter from the Colombian spouse requesting the issuance of the visa for the foreign spouse, confirming effective cohabitation (convivencia efectiva). The letter must include contact information (telephone, physical and email address). The letter must be accompanied by a copy of the identity card (Cédula de Ciudadanía).
Special power of attorney (Poder especial)
A notarized power of attorney that the Colombian spouse executes before a notary, granting the foreign spouse the right to apply for the visa. Important requirement: the power of attorney must include acknowledgment of content (Reconocimiento de Contenido) – the notary confirms that the spouse has read, understood, and accepted responsibility for the content of the document.
Migration movements certificate (Certificado de Movimientos Migratorios)
A document from Migración Colombia confirming the entry and exit history from the country for both spouses. It is requested for 5 or 10 years depending on the circumstances.
Evidence of the authenticity of the marriage (Fotografías, boletos, etc.)
To confirm the genuineness of the marriage, additional evidence may be requested: joint photographs (4-8 with dates), airline tickets, hotel reservations, joint bank accounts/contracts, screenshots of correspondence, etc.

Travel insurance
It is recommended to choose a policy with coverage of at least 50,000 US dollars, including insurance for active leisure activities and evacuation cases.
Documents regarding migration status
If applicable. If the application is submitted from within Colombia or a third country, a document confirming legal stay in that country must be provided (copy of visa, entry stamp, residence permit, etc.).
