Allows long-term residence with a close or another relative who lives in Norway. Applicants must provide proof of family member's legal residence in Norway, proof of relationship, demonstrate financial means, and confirmed accommodation. For the citizens of countries that require visa to enter Norway, UDI will ask the embassy of Norway in the applicant's place of residence to issue entry visa (D-visa). In exceptional cases and at the discretion of the migration services entry visa can be granted before family residence permit approval.

The period during which the visa remains valid and can be used for entry into the country. The validity period or expiration date is indicated directly on the visa itself.
